In January 2011, the Lane End Players put on Robinson Crusoe, a festive adventure like no other! We climbed aboard the Mary Rose with Robinson, his mum Chrissie, Captain Perkins and the whole crew for an exciting, action-packed journey to Tobago, following Old Jim’s treasure map to hidden riches.

Robinson Crusoe was full of joyous seasonal buffoonery, top-tapping songs and colourful characters. We encountered bloodthirsty pirates, not-quite-so-bloodthirsty sailors, ravenous islanders, evil demons, wicked plans and inescapable audience participation. Audiences gasped as Robinson struggled to save his sweetheart Polly from a terrible shipwreck; strained their voices by shouting “He’s behind you!” in the Jungle of Grunting Gorillas, and boo-ed like crazy at the evil Captain Blackpatch and his swarthy band of piratey rascals!
