Readings for the Spring Play
Just a reminder about the readings for our spring play “The Foreigner” which will be held this coming Sunday 22nd and Thursday 26th at 8pm in the Hall.
The dates for the play are 27th and 28th April and 4th and 5th of May, with the dress rehearsal on Sunday 21st April.
The play is a comedy written by Larry Shue. A basic outline of the play is as follows: “To forget his problems back in England, Charlie Barker takes a fishing lodge holiday in the Deep South of America. To avoid being pestered by the locals he pretends that he is a foreigner who speaks no English. This leads to him becoming involved, at first unwillingly, with the bizarre goings-on featuring a corrupt preacher, his pregnant girlfriend, her dim-witted brother and the local branch of the Ku Klux Klan.”
There are 7 characters in the play, five men and two women. Three of the men and both women will need to have Southern American accents (Georgia) and two men will be English.
All are welcome to attend the readings. If you have not been involved with the Lane End Players before, please contact our Membership Secretary Georgie Brooks (Georgina@FamilyBrooks.co.uk) for more information.
